Gavi is 28 km south west of Vandiperiyar, a town on NH 220 the highway connecting Kollam and Madurai, which itself is 14 km from Kumily, near Thekkady. Let the rough journey to Gavi may better be made on a sturdy vehicle like jeep which are available on hire either from Vandiperiyar or from Kumily. Entry passes must be obtained from the Forest Check Post enroute at Vallakkadavu. Advance booking with the Kerala Forest Development Corporation Ltd. is needed from entering through Vandiperiyar , but you can enter without any pass if you are entering from Pathanamthitta side and also 50 km ride through thick forest is very interesting we prefer you to enter from Pathanamthitta side . En route are the Pamba Reservoir and a large tract of reserve forests, so chances of wildlife encounters with endangered species like the Nilgiri tahr and lion tailed macaque are big. Developed into an exclusive ecotourism project, Gavi is listed as one of the must-see places in India. Active involvement of tribals makes Gavi one of its kind in the country.

Nature Walk, Thekkady

Thekkady offers immense potential to various adventure activities. Nature walking programs are arranged regularly covering various trekking routes around 4 to 5 km. Nature walk provides excellent opportunity to explore the nature in its own turf. Normally, nature walk routes pass through forests and grasslands providing unique experience to watch rare birds and other small wildlife. Nature walk programs are conducted by forest department between 7.30 to 11 am and 2.30 to 3.30 pm usually, a batch consisting of maximum five people with a well trained guide going into the jungles for nature walk.

Bamboo Rafting, Thekkady

Bamboo Rafting is a unique program available in Thekkady. This eco friendly program takes the tourists to the thick forests on trek and then to the catchments area of the Periyar Tiger Reserve on a bamboo raft. Parunthumpara

Parunthumpara is a village in the Indian state of Kerala's Idukki District.[1] It is a small scenic location near Wagamon en route to Peerumedu. Parunthumpara is located 6 km from Peermade and 25 km from Thekkady. The Malayalam word parunth means eagle and para means rock. It is called Parunthumpara or "eagle rock" because of a large area around like an eagle.

From here, the Makarajyothi of Sabarimala is visible. The main attractions of Parunthumpara are Suicide Point and Tagor Head (a rock that appears to have the shape of Tagor, an Indian poet's, head).

Meghamalai

Meghamalai , popularly called the Highwavy Mountains, is a mountain range situated in the Western Ghats in Theni district, Tamil Nadu near to Kumily, Kerala. It is dotted with cardamom plantations and tea estates. The place is situated at an elevation of 1,500 m above sea level and it is rich in flora and fauna.
